The pre-purchase date may already be marked on your calendar because yes, it is the same day that the other Steam Machine products manufactured by Alienware and Cyberpower hit the stores. It is truly an important day for Valve.
Details from Smach, producers of Smach Zero
The company that will be producing the Smach Zero is known as Smach, has given out a few details on the arrival of the “Steamboy”. But during Gamescom this past weekend they announced that the price will be $299 and €299 in Europe.
That price tag is only for the pre-purchase amount and it is unknown if the price will fluctuate upon the public release date. Smach announced that there will be over 1,000 games that will play on the Smach Zero upon its release in 2016.
Hardware and Functionality
Some of the hardware that is known to be put on the Smach Zero includes:
Two touch pads Control stick Seven buttons on the front Six buttons on the back AMD embedded G-Series SoC “Steppe Eagle” with Jaguar-based CPU and GCN-based Radeon graphics 4 GB memory 32 GB internal memory SD card slot USB OTG 5-inch Touch Screen - 720p Resolution Tacticle configurable gamepads HDMI video output connection Wi-Fi Bluetooth
With all of the above coming with the basic model, a PRO model will be available with the option of 4G mobile network connectivity. As a handheld gamer I’m very impressed with the idea of a portable Steam machine, and will be following it personally for when it releases in 2016. It’ll be very interesting on the games that will be playable on it, and hopefully some high-end games such as the Sims 3 and the Assassin’s Creed series will be available.
What do you think of this portable Steam machine? Will it be on your wishlist?
