Sensor Tower has released the following chart that depicts the cumulative revenue of Pokémon GO and other top grossing mobile games during their first month.
Before Pokémon GO, Clash Royale, which was released in March this year, held the record for the fastest mobile game to reach 10 million downloads worldwide and had earned approximately $125 million during its first month of availability. Candy Crush Soda Saga, which is considered one of the top grossing mobile franchises in the world, had only earned $25 million during its initial month.
Sensor Tower’s Randy Nelson, Head of Mobile Insights, has stated that:
One of the most interesting aspects of the chart is that Pokemon GO’s revenue was quite similar to Clash Royale’s during its first 18 days after release. However, when Niantic Inc. released the astoundingly popular game in Japan, the revenue began to spike from $75 million to over $200 million over the course of just 14 days. Had the game been released earlier in the month for Japan, the revenue would have undoubtedly been a lot higher.
Don’t expect the Pokémon GO’s revenue to slow down anytime soon, as the game has just been released in 15 new Asian countries and is still pending release in some of the largest mobile gaming countries in the world such as South Korea, India, and China. When the game is finally released in these countries, expect Pokémon GO’s revenue to spike significantly.
