The Pikmin 3 Deluxe demo releases on the Nintendo Switch eShop sometime during the evening of October 7. It lets players experience the early phases of the game and has the option to transfer save data to the full version once it releases.
Clearing the demo unlocks Pikmin 3 Deluxe’s Ultra Spicy difficulty level right from the start. Ultra Spicy caps the number of Pikmin allowed on the field at 60 instead of the usual 100, so planning your Pikmin mix will be more important than ever.
At the other end of the spectrum, new players can take advantage of optional hints should they need a bit of guidance.
The Treehouse Live segment offered a brief glimpse at Pikmin 3 Deluxe’s side stories featuring Olimar and Louie.
The goal in these stories, at least in the one shown, is similar to Pikmin 2. The duo must collect objects to exchange for money, but there’s a time limit and plenty of obstacles — like deadly enemies — in the way.
Pikmin 3 on Wii U confined co-op and competitive multiplayer to extra Bingo and mission modes, but Pikmin 3 Deluxe lets players team up during the main story campaign. They’ll control one of the three playable pilots and teams of 40 Pikmin to accomplish split objectives, explore more efficiently, and get things done faster.
Competitive mode returns with Bingo. Players race to collect fruits and complete lines on their Pikmin bingo cards, all while impeding their foes in any way possible.
The Pikmin 3 demo releases October 7 on the eShop, and the full game will launch October 30 for Nintendo Switch. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Pikmin 3 news as it develops.
